Updating your details if you’re registered with Ahpra
How to update your Healthcare Provider Identifier-Individual (HPI-I) details in the Healthcare Identifiers (HI) Service if you’re registered with Ahpra.
Ahpra will notify you when your Ahpra information is updated. All your HPI-I information and, if applicable, your Healthcare Provider Directory entry are automatically updated.
Through Health Professional Online Services (HPOS), you can add additional details to your HPII. You can add information to your HPI-I through Health Professional Online Services (HPOS).
This is useful if you have alternate contact details or an allied profession that you practice that is not regulated under Ahpra. Login to Your PRODA Account to Access HPOS.
- Select My programs.
- Select Healthcare Identifiers and My Health Record.
- Select Healthcare Identifiers – Manage existing Records.
- Select My details.
- Select which details you want to view to update.
- Select Amend to change details or Delete to delete an entry.
- Select Save changes and then Submit.
What do you have to disclose to Ahpra?
Registration involves an assessment of your ability to practice and requires that you disclose certain information, including:
Any criminal history
Criminal history includes:
- Every charge against a person for an offense
- Every plea of guilty or finding guilty is accepted by a court about an offense, even if the conviction has been recorded.
- Every conviction for an offense.
Different requirements apply to other territories and states. If:
- You’re in Western Australia and have been convicted of unpaid parking fines
- You’re in Queensland, and you pleaded guilty. The outcome was guilty without conviction
- You’re in Tasmania, and you’ve been cited for speeding or parking violations.
You must declare an offense if you were convicted of a crime more than ten years ago. Because of this, criminal history disclosure requirements do not apply to spent conviction legislation.
Ahpra conducts an Australian criminal background screening on all registration applicants and an ICHC where applicable – don’t forget, if applicable, you will need your ICHC page reference number and check the reference number before submitting registration.
If you fail to declare your criminal history or if one is discovered during the screening process, it will delay your application.
Each case is unique and will be decided individually. However, criminal history will be considered based on ten factors, such as the gravity and nature of the offense or alleged violation and its relevance to medical practice. The criminal history registration form provides more information.
English language skills
All new applicants for registration must have English language skills, regardless of where they are from.
If English is your primary language, and you have completed and are satisfied with the requirements, you can show your English proficiency.
All your primary and secondary education that was not taught or assessed in English in a recognized country.

Procedures that are susceptible to exposure

Ahpra may need current documentation regarding your diagnosis and treatment plan and a statement from your treating physician about your ability to practice. When you submit your application, you must include all information about any impairments you feel meet the criteria and how you manage them.
Proof of identity
Each new applicant for registration must also show sufficient proof of identity. If the documentation provided for category A or C is not evidence of an Australian residential address, you will need to provide at least one document.
- Category A ( in particular) is an Australian Birth Certificate/ Adoption Certificate or a valid Australian passport that has not been canceled and was reasonable within the past two years.
- Category A ( an example is an Australian passport, current Australian driver’s license, or current Australian student ID card).
- Category A ( an example of an academic transcript issued by an Australian university/institution, along with current bank account details and a Medicare card)

ANS. To check if your practitioner is registered, you can enter their name in Ahpra’s registration database. Registers are valid for allowing you to practice within the boundaries of your registration.

Q.3 How do students register with Ahpra?
ANS. You can submit your graduate application for registration within six weeks of receiving your final results. Once your final results have been released, and you have received your letter of completion confirming that you have met the course requirements, your school or faculty will forward your information to AHPRA.

ANS. Keep a copy of the original document. Bring the original document and your copy to an Authorised officer who can certify documents.
